IMD (Integrated Mounted Device)LED were recently introduced to the market, as a technology between SMD (Surface Mount Device) and COB (Chip On Board) LEDs, it has advantages and disadvantages, we did see many customers bring their modules with dead pixels to repair.

Repairing IMD modules

It's pretty much the same way as do SMD modules, solder, heat gun are used, the important things to attention is:

1. The IMD LEDs have 8 pins, and the pins are totally under the chip, which are not direcly exposed to heat gun air, to solder and desolder requires higher temperature;

2. There are 8 pins, the solder plate must be clean and flat to ensure the chips stay on the board at heat air flow;

3. Temprature and timing of the heat gun is key to repair

1. We pre heat the PCB board to a certain temprature;

2. We heat both surface of the PCB board;

3. We use innovative jigs at operation;

4. Our technology works on any modules with hidden solder pins.
